Still No Carlos

Yes yes, I know, still not written the Carlos post, but I will, just bear with me!

So, yesterday my band The Bophins released their second album New Swag - that link goes to Spotify but it's on all major digital stores...

The physical version has been delayed because apparently five to six working days is an estimate, ten to twelve is more accurate, oh well, patience and all that.

We recorded, produced, mixed and mastered it all by ourselves and I think I'm rightly proud of what this motley bunch has produced! No idea how many ears will hear it, but so far all very good feedback.

So, the gig in London... it was interesting, and I won't name names but let's just say The Bophins as the middle band on were the only band not to sit downstairs while others were playing. If you're in a band remember this, unless you really can't, watch the other bands! Then you won't get blacklisted by promoters and won't be added to the "never going to play with them again" list. You might learn something as well. I often pick up little tricks and stuff from watching other bands. It's just good manners. We even stayed till the end to watch the headline band even though only one of them was there for us.

Still, we went down really well and had we had CDs would have made some sales. We didn't though. Ten days and all that. Patience Tim, patience!

I will add this... The headline band were a Clash tribute band. Their interpretations of the songs can be summed up by two things said on stage. Firstly from the singer "Blimey these Clash songs are a bit energetic for me", and best of all from the guitarist before playing Garage Band which was "Of course we use our garages for our cars, they're too expensive to leave outside". Joe Strummer, your spirit may live on but not in Whitechapel on a Saturday night...

  1. And at least Strummer didn't end up advertising insurance or creamy buttery spreads...
